Sussex Academy students join aviation pathway event
Sussex Academy middle and high school students participated in the Wings and Wheels Pathways to Aviation trip Oct. 3 at the Delaware Coastal Airport.
Students were able to meet with representatives from aviation companies, colleges and the military to discuss various careers.
They also took part in hands-on activities, toured facilities and viewed a variety of aircraft on-site, including a piloted drone, said Sussex Academy Middle School Dean Rachael Johnston.
“A huge thank you to the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce for providing students with the opportunity to explore career pathways in aviation by visiting various vendors and organizations such as Aloft Aero Architects, Delaware State Police, Del Tech, Del State, Ocean Aviation, Collin’s Aerospace, Chorman Spraying, Southwest Airlines, Army & Air Force Recruiters, Civil Air Patrol, Experimental Aircraft Association, and the 9th Airlift Squadron from Dover Air Force Base,” she said.
Head of School Kyle Bentley said, “We would like to thank Linda Price and the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce for creating this opportunity for our students. Our partnership with the Chamber and community helps us teach students about career and technical pathways that will prepare them for future success.”
