Elementary School

Last Day of School:  Thursday, June 10 

Grade 5:  5th Grade Moving Up Ceremony at 6:30pm on Thursday, June 10  at Sussex Academy Elementary School

Middle School

Grades 6-7:  Last Day of School, Thursday, June 10

Grade 8: 8th Grade Moving Up Ceremony at 9:00am on Friday, June 11 in the Sussex Academy Stadium.  Students will be dismissed at 10:45am.  Bus transportation will be provided to and from school for students.

High School

Grades 9-11: Friday, June 4 - Last day of School

Grade 12:  Thursday, May 27-Last Day of School

Grade 12: Wednesday, June 2 – Graduation practice (9:00am); Senior Awards Ceremony (11:00am).  Parents are invited to attend the Senior Awards Ceremony in the Sussex Academy Stadium

Grade 12:
 Commencement.  June 4, 2021.  6pm.  Sussex Academy Stadium.  Ticket required.

Athletic results of last week;

BaseballThe baseball team defeated Seaford 4-2 on Friday and 18-6 on Saturday. On Friday the Seahawks were down 2-1 in the 5th when they scored two runs on a two out ground rule double by Wes McLaughlin to take the lead. Patrick Donahue added a two out single in the 6th to secure the win.Wyatt Skinner and Brayden Tidwell struck out 11 to lead the Seahawks. Saturday saw the Seahawk bats on fire blasting 15 hits and scoring 18 runs. Jack Donahue and Wes McLaughlin combined to drive in 8 runs. Chet Mariner threw a complete game.

     Patrick Donahue and Brayden Tidwell had hits but the baseball team lost to Lake Forest.

     The baseball had 15 hits on Senior day to crush MOT 17-3.The Seahawks only senior Anthony Oscar led the way with 4 hits and 3 runs scored.Brayden Tidwell 3 hits and 3 runs scored.Wyatt Skinner, Wes McLaughlin and Chet Mariner added 2 hits each.

Softball- The softball team lost to Lake Forest. Paige Tidwell had an impressive doubleplay from third base.

Women's Lacrosse- The women's lax team dominated Worcester Prep 12-3. Peyton Hagy recorded 9 saves while Madison Leeper and Macy Steinwedel led the scoring with 4 and 3 goals respectively. Bright Loftus and Bella Guckes each had a goal and an assist.
The women's lacrosse team lost a tough battle with Ursuline 11-10. Peyton Hagy had 13 saves in goal. Shelby Manlove scored 3 while Macy Steinwedel and Sanne Elling added 2 each. Madison Leeper, Bella Guckes, and Addy Basile had a goal each.
     The women's lacrosse team used a senior night 15-10 victory over the Salisbury School to complete a 12-3 season. Seniors Addy Leonhartt, Madi Burke, Nina Criniti, Brigid Loftus, and Elsa Leebel all scored for the Seahawks. Shelby Manlove and Sanne Elling had multiple goals. Peyton Hagy had 14 saves. The team should be a top seed in the State Tournament which begins next week.
     The JV women's lacrosse team lost a tight battle with Cape Henlopen. Scoring goals were Emiley Bisaha, Rilyn Lehman, Sienna Travers, Marley Rohe, and Eve Mundok. Morgan Leeper had 6 saves in goal.

Men's Lacrosse- The men's lax team crushed St. Elizabeth's 22-1 to earn their 13th win of the season.

     The men's lacrosse team also scored a senior night rout of Sussex Tech 15-1. Seniors Jackson Dinger and Riley Custodio led the offense as Ryan Burke and Cole White scored as well. Lex Johnson and Danny Hearn were solid in goal.

     The Henlopen South Division men's lax team lost to North champion Cape on Friday night.  Jackson Dinger, Riley Custodio, and Burke Healy scored for the Seahawks.  The Seahawk's play for the evening was represented by the numerous full out dives by Jackson Dinger attempting to knock the ball loose before going offsides.

Soccer- The women's soccer team defeated Delmar 1-0 on Tayler Flaherty's goal on a Merrill Smith assist. Emma Westbrook had 6 saves while earning her 4th shutout of the season. 

     The women's soccer team celebrated senior night with an 8-0 shutout of Seaford. Seniors Reese D'entremont, Emma Veirs, and Quinn Wichert all scored as well as Taylor Flaherty, Sharon Rodriguez, Kat Portillo, and Kenna Webb. Emma Westbrook recorded the shutout. The JV team gave up a goal with 4 minutes left and had to settle for a 1-1 tie.

     The team ended their week with a long trip to Concord and a 1-0 loss.  

Golf-  The golf team set a new school record for the 2nd time this year shooting a 142 while defeating Sussex Central. Sawyer Brockstedt also set a school record with a score of 31 to earn medalist honors. Sarah and Hannah Lydic shot 34 and 36 respectively while Tyler Healy completed the scoring with 41. The team then challenged defending Henlopen Conference champion Caesar Rodney and many time state champion Salesianum and bested them both. All 4 Seahawks shot in the 30's, Hannah and Sarah Lydic 35, Sawyer Brockstedt 37, and Adison Browne 39. That gave us a team score of 146 to 160 for Sallies, and 170 for CR. 

Women's Tennis- The women's tennis team  

Men's Tennis- The men's tennis team is making a strong run in the Henlopen Conference tournament. All 3 singles players, Michael Anghel, Dawson Weems, and Lucca Criniti and both doubles teams of Michael Daniello + Arpan Patel and Oliver Townsend + Bill Blakeney have advanced to the semi-finals.

     The team earned 2nd place team honors behind  CR.  Michael Anghel at 1st singles and our 1st doubles team of Michael Daniello and Arpan Patel both earned silver medals.  2nd singles Dawson Weems and 2nd Doubles Oliver Townsend and Bill Blakeney claimed bronze medals while Lucca Criniti placed 4th at 3rd singles.

Men's + Women's Track and Field - Congratulations to the girls 4x800 meter Relay team of Sadie Tunnell,  Kasi Showers, Emily Trout and Alissa Swann for earning a Silver Medal at the Henlopen Conference Track Championships.  That same team claimed a bronze medal in the 4x400 relay.  Emily Trout added a 4th place finish in the 1600, Sadie Tunnell placed 4th and 5th in the 400m and 200m, while Alissa Swann finished 6th in the 800.  The team placed 8th overall in the Henlopen Conference Tournament.  

 
MS Softball - The middle school softball team defeated Georgetown 15-4.  Grayce Glover hit a homerun, Bailey Mears had 3 hits while Glover, Delaine Monitzer, and Caroline White each collected two hits. Makenna Blades struck out 7 pitching a complete game for the win.
     The middle school softball team shutout Dover Central Middle 13-0. Makenna Blades and Caroline White combined on a no hitter. Blades pitched 4 innings striking out 6. White pitched 1 inning striking out 2. The Seahawks collected 8 hits. Delainie Monitzer tripled and Dymond Steele homered in the game. Grayce Glover had 2 hits.
 
MS Baseball - The middle school baseball team lost a tight battle to Georgetown.  Trey Hitchcock led the offense with 2 hits and Aaden Johnson, Austin Dostal, and Aidan Cannon had a hit each.
     The middle school Baseball team defeated Dover Central Middle 15-6. The team had 12 hits and Whit Stout pitched 6 innings giving up only 1 earned win.
     The team wrapped up their week with a 14-6 win over Woodbridge.
 
MS Soccer - Debora Williams scored 2 goals for the MS soccer team but they had to settle for a 2-2 tie with Georgetown.
     The team lost to Dover Central MS.
 
MS Girl's Lax - The middle school girls lax team lost a back and forth battle with Worcester 12-9. Sasha Robbins and Liz Layton stood strong in the goal and offensive support from Julie Daniello aided goalscoreres Avary Miller:2, Shea Danahy 2, June Hale 2, Ellie Merrick,Liz Layton, and Lily Bisaha. Ava Yenovkian led the defense.
 
MS Boy's Lax - The team beat worcester prep 7-6. Offensively Brenner Short, Ryan Morgan, and Braddock Smith stood out, Kolbe Green dominated the faceoffs, and Landen Hill had a great game in goal.
