Sussex Academy seniors host info panels for freshmen
Several Sussex Academy seniors recently stepped up to share advice and experiences with freshmen acclimating to their new roles as high school students.
On Sept. 21, seniors visited ninth grade classrooms to encourage and support their younger peers by imparting the knowledge they have gained throughout high school.
The event accomplished several goals, said Dean of High School Lauren Hvorecny.
“Freshmen were able to build connections with upperclassmen and gain practical strategies for succeeding in high school while also demonstrating that asking questions and seeking support are normal parts of the transition to high school,” Hvorecny said.
Seniors Khloe Allen, BrixiAnn Bell, Makenna Blades, Biloxi Buffington, Camilla Figueroa, Finna Graves, Layla Hastings, Annabelle Hudson, Selena Jacobs, Brandon Jaimes, Bailey Mears, Sasha Robins and Jack Thomas detailed ways to stay organized, stressed the need to ask for help when needed and suggested freshmen get involved with clubs and activities.
Students also shared their mistakes as well as their successes in the frank and helpful conversation.
