Sussex Academy to present A Midsummer Night’s Dream Nov. 14-16
Limited tickets for Sussex Academy Theatre’s unique high school fall production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream are now available.
Showtimes are Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $10 per adult and $5 per student/child. There are only 50 seats available at each of the four performances, so act quickly.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream follows several intertwined groups — a pair of young lovers, a band of mischievous fairies, and a troupe of amateur actors — who all wander into an enchanted forest one magical night. Through mistaken identities, love potions, and playful trickery, chaos ensues until harmony is restored. In the end, relationships are mended, true love triumphs, and the play concludes with joy and celebration.
This production is a unique theatrical experience for our students and our community. Not only is it Sussex Academy’s first Shakespearean production, but it is also the school’s first show directed by a guest director, Greg Carlisle.
“He has done incredible work with our students, and you are bound to be impressed!” said Sussex Academy Theatre Program Director Erin E. Bobby.
Even more exciting is how the play is staged: it is performed in the three-quarter round with the audience seated directly on the stage. This creates a very intimate viewing experience, but it also means seating is limited so purchasing tickets ahead of time is highly recommended.
