Sussex Academy students win Sussex Conservation poster contest
The artistic talents of three Sussex Academy Elementary students were recognized by Sussex Conservation District’s annual poster contest.
First graders Scarlet Garson and Elijah Schrock won first and second place, respectively, in the Grades K-1 category, and fourth grader Isabelle Hein won second place in the Grades 4-6 category in this year’s competition, themed “Home is Where the Habitat is.” A total of 160 entries were submitted.
As the first place winner for Sussex County, Scarlet received a $50 gift card, and second place winners Elijah and Isabelle each received $25. Scarlet’s entry also won first place at the state level, and will be submitted for judging at the national level.
The contest was open to K-12 students from Delaware public, charter, private and homeschools in grade-level categories and provided students with an opportunity to share their knowledge and thoughts about conservation through art.
