Sussex Academy Theatre students performed three showings of the folk-opera musical Hadestown: Teen Edition, May 15-16.

The musical retells the Greek myth of Orpheus, played by senior Carter Huffman, and Eurydice, played by senior Priya Haldar in a post-apocalyptic world.

Their relationship is tested by poverty and the lure of the underworld ruled by Hades, portrayed by senior Gio Porfido, and Persephone, portrayed by senior Gigi Miranda. Senior Chase Ryan portrayed Hermes, the show’s primary narrator.

“Hadestown is theatrical gold, and we all felt so privileged to perform this material and tell this story,” commented director Erin Bobby. “We will all miss making magic onstage. What a wonderful experience for all involved.”
