Sussex Academy Elementary hosts Literacy Night
Sussex Academy Elementary students participated in a variety of enrichment activities at Literacy Night March 12.
Students and families were able to move to various activity stations throughout the gym, where they could play games and make crafts all geared toward increasing literacy.
In addition to teachers who hosted stations and assisted students, school leaders Jerica Morris and Megan Reed hosted an informational table for parents, offering resources about the school curriculum and ways to help with literacy at home.
Guests included local authors Aimee Isaacs, Lyn McDonald and Rosemary Carroll as well as the Georgetown Public Library and the Sussex County Director of Libraries (Bookmobile).
“Our Literacy Night truly brought our new elementary curriculum to life while connecting with state goals and giving families meaningful ways to be part of their child’s reading journey,” said Head of School Kyle Bentley.
