The start of the academic year also signaled the launch of Sussex Academy’s Soaring Higher fundraising campaign, which now counts Dutton Bus Service Inc. and Delmarva Petroleum as major donors.

Both local companies recently presented Sussex Academy Head of School Kyle Bentley with a $10,000 contribution each to support capital expenditures for athletic facility improvements.

The donations are especially important, Bentley said, because as a tuition-free public charter school, Sussex Academy receives different levels of funding than traditional public school districts, notably capital funding. 

“This makes community support essential to maintaining and enhancing the high-quality educational experience we provide,” Bentley said.
